Irish Dress

This lovely gown is great for those who want something simple to put on. You can have a Chemise beneath it or a skirt or both! Show here in blue to the right, this gown is simple but pretty. You may be able to make out the silver trim on the gown. The skirt is a full 4 yards of fabric. Like all my gowns, the bodice is lined with muslin and lightly boned. I use canvas to stiffen the bodice so only a few bones are needed for shape. This is also gentler on people who aren't use to wearing tight fitting clothing and still great for those of us who are. Using canvas also happens to be more period than most other means of "stiffing" used today.

The silk velvet we get today is not quite like those of yesteryear. Silk velvet tends to be a rayon backed silk velvet or some other mix. However, it does have the feel and luxury of the velvets worn by nobility. I also always have a large amount of silk on hand. Please indicate whether you would like silk or silk velvet in the color tab; ie Green Silk Velvet.
